Artist Statement : Street photography in a smalltown shopping district. The mannequin in this gown store window appears fetching amongst the confusing reflections of the street. The values were worked to make the gown and figure elements stand out while diffusing parts of the reflected background. A recoloring enhanced the dream-like sense of the composition.

Media: Acrylic Paint and Epoxy Clay on Handmade MDF Panel Acrylic paint applied with brush and airbrush on a 48"x24" handmade MDF relief panel. The panel is made from 3 layers of 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch MDF that were cut using a jig saw and a scroll saw. The layers were then glued, sanded, primed and painted to create this custom sculptural canvas. Hand sculpted mushrooms made of Magic Sculpt epoxy clay and painted with acrylic paint are mounted to the frame.
Artist Statement : Exploration and reflection are essential parts of the human experience. It starts with the innate survival instinct to become familiar with one’s environment. Some people take it a step further and continue to explore and reflect purely for the sake of adventure; taking the roads less traveled to the outskirts of reality, uncharted territory filled with excitement, beauty and mystery. Adventures are best shared and the pursuit of passions will lead to companionship and love. This piece depicts an urban landscape scene where a group of friends has gathered on a rooftop high above the city, for a moment of calm and peace from the busy streets below. A young woman, on a journey of self discovery, stares into an illuminated pane of glass while drawing designs across it's reflective surface in contemplation. The group holds space for each other on the quiet rooftop, as they discuss difficult events from their pasts and envision the limitless possibilities and potential of their futures.

Artist Statement : Reflections of our environs. When I create landscapes I always consider and reflect on elements within the composition. The elements surrounding me, the sky, ground, water, all have different visual effects when reflected - the skies look different when reflected in water, as do man made artifacts - I try to capture these effects and incorporate the change inn my art.

Media: Oil on Linen, 2023-2025
Artist Statement : As a Plein Air artist, a visual game I play is returning to a subject, over the course of a few years and questioning what season? For this winter painting, hoping for a new snow fall, the changing morning lights all add to the possibilities. I scan to see if there's new additions, buildings or homes that can add or not to this painting. Winter air streams, those wonderful clouds bands seem to be in full abundance, but which is correct? And I wonder will the river freeze? For this artist, the varying changes in light and weather the reflections on the river, so many factors play into an artist approach to painting, and the possibility.

Artist Statement : Nature is not just a backdrop but a strong character in my artistic narrative. My childhood in New England, steeped in the tranquil beauty of the outdoors, profoundly influenced my creative journey, instilling a deep-rooted connection with the natural world. Landscape painting is a pilgrimage to my origins and a reconnection with the natural world. My art strives to encapsulate a representational and impressionistic aura of tranquility and timelessness, urging viewers to pause, contemplate, and synchronize with nature's serene cadence. My art is a testament to the nuanced interplay between perception and reality, the human spirit and nature, and the enduring dialogue between the past and the present. I hope viewers of my work not only witness these themes but also participate in this aesthetic discourse.

Artist Statement : I created this piece in response to the feeling of being caught in an in-between. I find at many points in life, one can find themself holding onto something that no longer serves them--an idea, a place, a relationship. Staring into the uncertainty of what comes next, it can be difficult to let go of the familiar, despite knowing deep down that this, here, is no longer right.

Artist Statement : This New York City street immediately caught my eye. One side consisted of the original neighborhood buildings, the other a doppelganger consisting of a newly constructed, single block-long corporate building made of pristine glass. The glass reflected the entire length of the street like a mirror. The contrast was quite stark, emphasizing the growth and change of the area.

Artist Statement : Reflections in a Window: Our inner worlds are the filter through which we engage life. Our perception and understanding of everything around us is informed as much by what we remember as what we anticipate. Nothing is experienced in a vacuum and the feelings we get from people or places or things are what they are because of other seemingly unrelated experiences, like reflections in a window.

Artist Statement : I’m drawn to reflections--fascinated, perhaps, by how light bouncing off a surface reveals an image that is both familiar and alien. I’m interested in that moment of recognition when an individual shifts from a pre-reflective to self-conscious state and takes stock of their form. I am equally interested in the distortions reflected in the surface of pitted glass, a curved mirror, or meticulously varnished wood, as well as those perceived in the viewer's mind. When I observe a reflection, I often capture it with my camera, as was the case with this image--taken at a diner with a friend. Fast forward to the fall of ’24: I stumbled upon this image—a perfect subject for a process I was experimenting with that involved blending wet and dry media. I started the painting with an abstract layer of watercolor and formed the image on top with a blend or charcoal, watercolor, and pastels. As the image formed, I responded to and worked with the first layer of color, thus inviting surprise.
